Character art for my most recent game-concept (& Illustration for GAD.)
My biggest influence when creating her was "Steam Punk crossed with Cyber Punk." That explains the crazy hair I hope ...
Her name is "Ghella" (names for my characters/ideations never come right when I'm drawing them, but weeks after & at random; & I never hesitate when a name suddenly comes to me...I use just THAT.)
She is of an aquatic race (no specific fish or amphibian...more-so a mix of things) where no person looks the same. All my character ideation's for this game-concept will have different species, but no people will look the same; I wan't to pull inspiration from EVERYTHING. She is also an engineer that specializes in advanced weaponry & transportation (her vehicle is the Swamp Cycle that she also made.)
What she is holding are bombs. They contain a parasitic species that is harvested in the swamps & when tamed, serve useful. After she flips the switches & throws her bombs at a target, the parasites then piece her bombs back together. They also serve as a "light source" for lamps & vehicles.
That is all I have on her at the moment. But what I do know is....that outfit is NOT going to stick >_<. I still want to go with the idea of her being in a dress, but also want something a bit more girly than this (or maybe KEEP this, but have two outfit ideation's for her)...damnit, I can NEVER just stick with one thing. *lol*
*"Ghella" designed by me; sketches & colored on Photo Shop CS3*
neet but there is something going on in the image that seems to flatten her. My guess is the Ambient Light. the Clothing, her and The Background has light and shadow Hitting them in different ways.
To be perfectly honest...I agree. I'm not comfortable leaving it like this either (but with deadlines & other projects to be made...i have to make my work look generally do-able.) I plan on smoothening out the colors & darkening the values a bit more (as well as giving things a textures look.)
The background is merely an image behind her to represent a place you'd most likely find the character. I wasn't looking to have THAT polished to completion.
I understand. some how the dead lines when i was at AIDallas Seemed to put to much on speed. one of my mistakes was treading it like a class and home work. Each Project you are given you should treat like it's you Proving you are what the employers want. you may have to redo it for Portfolio class any way maybe turn it in but keep working on it.
how can u cross steam punk and cyberpunk. cyber punk is dark future high tech low life setting steam punk is pushing the boundries of technology in a fantasy setting so it really is one or the other dear. I think she was cuter in the original concept sketch. good work though for what it is.
